Inspection and Pest Identification

Pest Inspection and IdentificationInspecting is essential to solving pest problems quickly and economically. It includes asking questions of the customer and examining the premises thoroughly to learn as much as possible about the pest problem. During the inspection, the Pest Management Professional (PMP) should look for the harborage areas of pests; conditions of moisture, heat or darkness that favor infestations; food and water that can be used by the pests; probable means of entry into the structure; and evidence of infestation.

The inspection will give the professional some idea the measurements that may or may not need to be employed, safety precautions that may be necessary, and when the work can be done. Site awareness is critical in determining factors critical to PMP success.

Once the pest has been found, the PMP must identify it in order to proceed. What type of insect and where it is located have huge effects on what measures would be employed to control the issue. Habit and biology play a large part in how to deal with the infestation. In Sacramento, with so many insect types and environments, this is important in pest control.

Whether it is cockroaches, ants, bed bugs, or rodents, it is important to know to be able to provide the best measures in controlling them. This is why it is important for a PMP to get on site to look around and not just guess over the phone.
